What are the night parking regulations?
No vehicle may be parked on any street in the City of New Berlin between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. A night parking permit may be obtained from the Police Department during lobby hours 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding legal holidays). Under special circumstances, temporary overnight parking permission not to exceed one 48 hour period per month may be granted. Please call 262-782-6640.
I received a citation, how do I take care of it?
For questions relating to your Court appearance, payment of fines, and matters pending before Municipal Court, please call the Municipal Court Office at 262-780-8154. The Court Office is open Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays. Citations may be paid through the mail, in person, or placed in the drop box which is located in the west parking lot of the Safety Building. Payments may be made with cash, check, or by money order. Credit card payments will only be accepted in person during normal business hours. You can see more information by clicking "Municipal Court" under "Departments" on the above header board.
When is burning permitted?
Effective September 1, 2004: Open burning of grass, leaves, and other vegetation now require a permit. Permits may be purchased at City Hall or the Public Library and cost $5.00. The permit must be prominently displayed while burning is occurring. Burning is allowed throughout the year on Wednesday and Saturday ONLY. For the periods beginning April 1st through May 15th and October 1st through November 15th burning is permitted Wednesday through Saturday. Burning is prohibited when wind velocity exceeds nine (9) mph.
How do I obtain an accident report or open record?
Copies of accident reports and requests for records can be obtained either by phone or by stopping in our lobby, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., excluding legal holidays. Our open records policy is in accordance with Wisconsin State Statutes. Please call 262-780-8149 for additional information. A fee schedule is listed below: Copies of reports: $.50 per page. Copies of CD/audio tapes: $7.50 each using our CD/tape. Copies of photographs: Actual cost of duplicating photos, plus a $15.00 handling fee. Additional fees for mailed or faxed records: By mail - postage and handling $3.00 per request. By fax - local calls $3.00 per request. By fax - long distance $5.00 per request.
What are fees for fingerprinting?
For people living or working in New Berlin. (The police department is not authorized to handle INS fingerprint requests.) Fingerprinting is done Monday through Friday, 7:00am - 7:00pm ($10.00 for first card, $5.00 each additional card).
Other miscellaneous fees collected?
Parking permits - $5.26 per month Bow Hunting license- $20.00 (resident & non-resident, effective 8-11-99) Temporary Wisconsin license plate - $5.00 agent service fee Warrant Service Fee - $20.00 Loudspeaker permits, barricade permits, and state maps - available for no charge.
